Learn how to respond to medical emergencies, treat injuries and illnesses, by improvising solutions with the items you have available in your surroundings. This course is designed for local, state and federal employees dealing with the aftermath of natural disasters, expedition guides, wilderness instructors, remote travelers or anyone who spends time in locations where 9-1-1 response is more than an hour away.
Course topics include: wilderness medicine; anatomy & physiology; patient assessment; shock, brain & spine injuries; musculoskeletal injuries; chest injuries; respiratory distress; submersion injuries; bites & stings; allergies & anaphylaxis; ear, nose & teeth injuries; heat injuries; abdominal problems; hypothermia & cold injuries; lightning; wilderness first aid kits; wounds, wound cleaning & infection.
