Sightings for the first half of April 2014
April 15th, 2014 | Category: News, SightingsWe’ve been seeing Wild Turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) regularly this month: two on the 2nd; one on the 7th; four on the 8th; five on the 10th; and three on the 15th.
We have also noted the following from April 1st-15th:
1st – Yellow Trumpet Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia alata) blooming
2nd – Blue-eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium angustifolium)
8th – Box turtles (Terrapene carolina), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris), Indigo Bunting (Passerina cyanea), Palm Warbler (Setophaga palmarum), Blue Grosbeak (Passerina caerulea)
11th – Black Racer (Coluber constrictor), American Oystercatchers (Haematopus palliatus), Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)
15th – Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris)
