Reserve Revises Management Plan

The Grand Bay NERR recently submitted a draft 2013-2018 Grand Bay NERR Management Plan to NOAA for approval.  NOAA requires periodic updates to Reserve management plans.   The Reserve takes an integrated approach to management, linking research, education, training and stewardship functions to address priority issues including climate change, habitat protection and water quality.  The 18,049 acre Reserve located in eastern Jackson County was designated into the National Estuarine Research Reserve System in 1999.  A public meeting will be held April 4, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Grand Bay NERR, 6005 Bayou Heron Road, Moss Point, MS  39562.  The draft Management Plan is available online at or at the Reserve offices.  Comments on the plan can be sent via email to until April 15, 2013.
