NERR Staff Attends Water Resources Conference
April 7th, 2014 | Category: NewsKim Cressman, Grand Bay’s Systemwide Monitoring Program (SWMP) Coordinator, attended the Mississippi Water Resources Conference last week. The Conference was held in Jackson, MS on April 1-2 and was hosted by the Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute. Kim gave a talk on the utility of long-term monitoring data and the importance of SWMP in understanding phosphate inputs into Bangs Lake, located on the western side of the Reserve.
About 100 scientists and resource managers from Mississippi State University, Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, USGS, and The Nature Conservancy attended the meeting. Kim said, “It’s good to spread the word about the NERR and the work we’re doing to other people in the state, especially because this was a group of people that we don’t typically interact with.”
