SUMMARY:Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve Federal Evaluation
DESCRIPTION:The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office for Coastal Management conducts periodic evaluations of state programs participating in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. The Grand Bay Reserve is part of a national network of 30 reserves protected for long-term research\, water-quality monitoring\, education\, and coastal stewardship. \n\n\n\nThe Coastal Zone Management Act calls for the periodic evaluation of all federally approved estuarine research reserves. The evaluations assess operations and management and how the lead state agency and the reserve are addressing the issues identified in the reserve’s management plan\, NOAA regulations governing the reserve system\, and the terms of federal financial assistance awards. \n\n\n\nPublic participation is a valued part of the evaluation process\, and the evaluation team would like to hear the views of all interested parties. \n\n\n\nA public meeting will be held to solicit public comments on Wednesday\, September 20\, 2023\, at noon at the at the Grand Bay Reserve\, 6005 Bayou Heron Road\, Moss Point\, MS 39562. Virtual attendees may register at https://forms.gle/tCXQoVBVGVCZrWpB7 by Tuesday\, September 19\, 2023\, at 7:00 p.m. You may also submit written comments for inclusion in the findings to Carrie Hall\, the evaluation team leader\, at czmaevaluations@noaa.gov no later than September 29\, 2023.
