GIS & Maps

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a digital mapping, storage and analysis system used at the Reserve to support natural resources management and research initiatives.  GIS uses methods from cartography, statistics, and database technology to relate varying information in a spatial context.  Here at the Grand Bay Reserve we use GIS to manage, analyze, and model environmental data to study changes in the landscape over time and to conserve and restore important resources.
