Why You Should Attend
This 3.5 day field-intensive plant class is taught by Dr. Robert Mohlenbrock, renowned botanist from Southern Illinois University, author of 58 books, and monthly columnist for the periodical, Natural History. Dr. Mohlenbrock travels across the country studying plants and teaching plant identification techniques to the staffs of various environmental agencies and organizations. He is widely recognized as an expert in plant field identification techniques and is an energetic and enthusiastic instructor.
You will visit a number of coastal habitats across Mississippi’s coastal counties, learning about wetland plants by going outdoors and seeing where they grow and the conditions under which they thrive. Dr. Mohlenbrock will teach you how to identify the key plant species within each habitat type visited based on visual characteristics. Course materials, including an extensive plant list and plant identification keys, will be provided.
