2013 Research Symposium

Mark Woodrey intro RS.smOn October 25th, 2013, Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) held its 2nd Research Symposium. Researchers and end users were invited to share significant research conducted in the Grand Bay estuary area, provide results of research projects to natural resource managers, and develop collaborations with others that are conducting studies in the Grand Bay estuary.

Sixty-five participants attended the event. In the morning, researchers presented a wide range of projects focused on Grand Bay. In the afternoon, presentations focused on climate-related topics and feedback was collected from participants on the Grand Bay NERR’s Sentinel Site Project and infrastructure and research priorities during a break out session. A poster presentation and social was held during the evening session. For the full abstracts for each of the presentations, see the Program under the “Resources” section below.

All of the participants agreed or strongly agreed that attending the Symposium was a good use of their time and that participating in the Symposium increased their knowledge of the types of research conducted at the Grand Bay NERR.
